Conference: Transitions and energy union in Europe

Cécile Maisonneuve, Institut Français des Relations Internationales (IFRI) will talk on November, 9 for the conference cycle on energy and environment organised at École Polytechnique to prepare the Paris Climate Conference 2015 (COP21).

“Transitions and energy union in Europe: ambitions and contradictions” will be the topic of the conference presented by Cécile Maisonneuve,  Senior Advisor at the Center for Energy of Institut Français des Relations Internationales (IFRI) and Vice-President of la Fabrique de la cité, on Monday, November, 9 at 4pm at École Polytechnique.

This presentation is part of the conference cycle on energy and environment organised by the Coriolis Institute to prepare the Paris Climate Conference 2015 (COP21) and the debates on energy transition.

Cécile Maisonneuve, Senior Advisor at the Center for Energy of Institut Français des Relations Internationales (IFRI):

The Energy Union project presented last February takes into consideration climate and energy policy inconsistencies deployed by the European Union over the past years, while it tries to give a new impetus to the "European Energy Policy". Launched in the double context of the Ukrainian crisis and tensions with Russia on one hand and climate negotiations on the other hand, especially ambitious, it aims to carry a better coordination between the supply security, the competitiveness of European economies and the fight against climate change. It also throws a harsh light on the differences in approach on the energy-climate policy of the Member States without resolving the contradictions between different tools’ performance of this policy.
