Personal development internship. Next stop: Asia!
The personal development internship (DFHM internship) is compulsory for all first year students for a period of six months, either in the armed forces or a civilian organization, in France or abroad. This year, among the 45 students who are doing their internship abroad, 10 of them are in China.
Internship of Hector Sainvet and Thomas Carta - X2017 at École Centrale Beijing:
Their main missions are to support and help Chinese and French students, to organize general and scientific methodology sessions, to monitor practical works, to carry out mathematics classes…
“The French-Chinese innovation fair took place on November 24. It was organized by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research in order to promote and foster the French-Chinese cooperation in scientific and technological fields. On that occasion, the “France-China talented young people” program was launched, an exchange program intended for young Chinese and French researchers who wish to undertake their research in the host country. As members of the teaching staff of École Centrale Beijing, we could assist and discuss with various participants. We also got in touch with scientific department members of the French Embassy in China".
"On November 25, École Centrale Beijing organized a meeting between the companies operating in China and students. The objective of the event was to enable students to discover career prospects (internship or job offers…). The fair was inaugurated by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Yves Le Drian. We were glad to meet him and introduce ourselves!"
Internship of Éric Askinazi, Eve Jolicoeur, Victor Jouault and Arnaud Robin at the SJTU-ParisTech Elite Institute of Technology:
The four students arrived in China in October and will stay until April. The main mission of these interns is to help and assist teachers during mathematics and computer lessons, by preparing and verifying the course materials and exercises.
On October 30, the four students represented École Polytechnique at the higher education institutions forum of the Lycée Français de Shanghai (French High School). They organized a masterclass on the theme of “Mathematics: keys of science” for high school students. After the class, they ran the École Polytechnique’ booth to answer various questions of parents and students. The French education system is not well-known in China and it can be hard to understand. At the end of the day, many parents expressed particular gratitude to the four Ingénieur Polytechnicien students for their very clear and interesting explanations!
