Second fundraising campaign and cooperation projects of l’X in the US: NYC
The Friends of École Polytechnique, the American division of the École Polytechnique Foundation, is launching its 2nd fundraising campaign with a goal of raising €80M over five years. Jacques Biot, President of l'X, inaugurated the campaign launching in the US and met alumni and academic partners of l’X in Boston, NYC, L. Angeles and S. Francisco.
Alliance is a pioneer global education joint program created by Columbia University, École Polytechnique, Sciences Po and Panthéon-Sorbonne University that encourages the creation of innovative programs: dual degrees, co-teaching, and non-conventional summer schools. The Alliance Program facilitates the creation of academic links, synergies and know-how transfers for the strong cosmopolitan network of leading professors and research centers from the four institutions. Supported by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the French Ministry for Higher Education, the Regional Council of Île de France, and the four institutions, the Alliance Program was endowed in 2007.
Emmanuel Kattan was previously Director of the British Council in New York, where he oversaw academic collaboration programs. He created partnerships with the Henry Luce Foundation and the Carnegie Corporation to launch initiatives connecting higher education institutions across the Atlantic. Before joining the British Council, Emmanuel was Senior Adviser at the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, where he managed strategic communications and engagement with academic communities. He also held senior positions at the Commonwealth Secretariat and at the Quebec Delegation in London, where he was in charge of academic relations programs.
In the evening of September 13th, Jacques Biot inaugurated the second fundraising campaign ceremony organized by The Friends of École Polytechnique, the American division of the École Polytechnique Foundation and hosted by Consulate General of France in New York. Over twenty alumni of l’X were present in order to discuss the campaign objectives and investment priorities. The donations given by former students of l’X residing in Now York and other parts of the United States will help to attract the most talented French and international students and academics, to acquire leading-edge equipment and to support innovative start-ups.
This campaign targets individuals – École Polytechnique’s engineers, Master and PhD graduates, future graduates from the Bachelor, Graduate Degree and Executive Education programs, theirs families and Friends of l’X – as well as companies. The donations will help to attract the most talented French and international students and academics, to acquire leading-edge equipment and to support innovative start-ups.
