School Leadership

The governance of École Polytechnique is ensured by the President of the Board of Directors, the Director-General and the Provost.

Director-General, Acting President - Laura Chaubard

The Chairman of the Board of Directors sets the direction of the Schools's missions in education, research and innovation, and ensures their implementation. The Director-General  is responsible for the operational management and military leadership of the School.

Director-General of École Polytechnique since October 5th, 2022, Laura Chaubard assumes the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the School as of September 17th, 2023. Laura Chaubard is also a member of the Executive Committee of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, which brings together École Polytechnique, ENSTA Paris, ENSAE Paris, Télécom Paris and Télécom SudParis since May 2019.

Previously, Laura Chaubard, an engineer-general of Armament, was Executive Director of the Établissement Public du Parc et de la Grande halle de la Villette (EPPGHV) since october 2019.

Laura Chaubard is a graduate of the École Polytechnique (X99) and hold a doctorate degree in algo algorithmics delivered by Paris Diderot University (Paris VII).

Laura Chaubard is also a Knight of the National Order of Merit and a Knight of the Legion of Honour.

Provost - Dominique Rossin

This position is appointed by decree of the Minister of Defense, through nomination by the President of the Board of Directors, upon recommendation of the Board.

Dominique Rossin (X1994) holds a PhD in Computer Science from the École Polytechnique and is a specialist in algorithmics and combinatorics. He led a team at the University of Paris Diderot for seven years before joining the Computer Science Laboratory of École Polytechnique in 2010. He was recruited as a lecturer at the School in 2003, in the Computer Science Department, and has been accredited to supervise research since 2007.

Between 2012 and 2014, he joined the Ministry of Higher Education and Research as Deputy Delegate for Research and Technology in charge of the Paris region.

Since 2015, Dominique Rossin has been Vice-Provost for Education and since 2019, he is in charge of the Education Committee for the Institut Polytechnique de Paris. In 2020, he was appointed French Dean of the EuroteQ European University, which he contributed to create.

Dominique Rossin has led several major projects for the School: the creation of the Bachelor's program, the creation of the eight Masters of Science and Technology, the development of continuing education and the creation of the Executive Master's program, as well as leading the project to reform the Ingénieur Polytechnicien Program. Dominique Rossin has also played a key role in the evolution of teaching practices and the development of e-learning and MOOCs.
