La Fête de la Science is back at l’X
On October 13th and 14th, École Polytechnique organized, for the fifth consecutive year, la Fête de la science (Science fair). Workshops, conferences, laboratories visits, a scientific show, an escape game and a firework were on the program.
One more round! For the fifth consecutive year, École Polytechnique opened its doors and those of its laboratories too, on the occasion of La Fête de la Science, on October 13th and 14th 2017.
At the choice of the theme “When I grow up… professions in the heart of science”, chosen by the Ile-de-France region, researchers and the research staff of l’X promoted young generations to scientific careers and showed the diversity of the actors of its research center.
On the 20 booths set up in the Great Hall of l’X, scientists presented different aspects of research and sciences in a popularized manner, in diverse topics such as optics, mathematics, biology or discovery of space. X students also took part in the event by exposing the result of their work carried out within collective scientific projects or student associations, such as the creation of a Martian space suit printed in 3D or the orbiting of a student nano-satellite.
If Friday was dedicated to scholar groups, the general public had Saturday to enjoy various activities and share with the interveners its passion and interest for sciences.
This year, the novelty was the escape game organized by the Intense Lasers Laboratory on the theme of optics. The goal of the game was to solve several riddles by means of concepts explained just before the start of the game. The winner was the first one who could solve all the riddles and who found the key to leave the room!
