L'X signed an MOU with the University of California, Irvine

On January 25, 2018, Jacques Biot, President of École Polytechnique, and Vice Chancellor and Provost Dr. Enrique Lavernia from the UC Irvine signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at fostering academic cooperation, strengthening scientific and academic exchange opportunities and promoting international understanding.

The two universities, both leading institutions of their countries, undertake through this memorandum to develop their academic and scientific cooperation in fields of education and research. L'X and the UC Irvine agree to explore the feasibility of establishing programs, including mutually beneficial research projects, academic activities and educational endeavors with each other.

This agreement was signed on the occasion of the Symposium "A Scientific Journey from Wakefields to Astrophysics and Fusion: A Symposium in Honor of Toshiki Tajima" that was held on January 25-26, 2018, and organized by the Laser High Field community at the UC Irvine. The symposium was more specifically organized by Gerard Mourou, Emeritus professor and member of the Haut collège of École Polytechnique, who collaborates with Toshi Tajima, Norman Rostoker Chair and Adjunct Professor of Physics and Astronomy at the UC Irvine since more than 30 years.
