Visit of Gilberto Kassab, Minister of Science and Technology of Brazil, at l'X
As a part of his visit in France, Gilberto Kassab, Minister of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications of Brazil was at l’X on January 23rd, 2018. He met with Jacques Biot, President of École Polytechnique, and Frank Pacard, Provost, to discuss cooperation between Brazil and l’X.
Gilberto Kassab, Minister of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications of Brazil was at l’X to encourage cooperation between Brazil and l’X. He met with President Jacques Biot and Provost Frank Pacard.
In terms of Education, l’X has currently around 50 Brazilian students, mainly in the Ingénieur Polytechnicien program but also in master’s and PhD programs. This cooperation exists thanks to several agreements signed between École Polytechnique and Brazilian universities.
This large Brazilian population is very active on campus through student associations which aim at creating links within the Brazilian community on campus but also in France and in Europe and promoting the Brazilian culture. Minister Gilberto Kassab met with some of them who presented their achievements and projects such as the BRASA European Leadership Summit – EuroLeads or the “Binet Latino”.
In terms of Research, Minister Kassab and President Biot agreed to strengthen collaboration between École Polytechnique’s laboratories and Brazilian ones, through the CNRS but also the industry. The main topics Brazil is currently focusing on are ecology, oceanography and aeronautics.
