Learning through research

At least 20% of study time is dedicated to research in the first three years of the Ingénieur Polytechnicien Program.

A cutting-edge research center on their doorstep

Students benefit from an exceptional setting in terms of infrastructures with the research center that boasts over twenty laboratories within the École Polytechnique itself, as well as the partner laboratories at the Plateau De Saclay (European Silicon Valley).

Science projects throughout the program

> From year 1
Students are offered scientific conferences on current research themes as well as laboratory visits and meetings with researchers.

> In year 2
-Part of the studies are carried out in the form of applied modules in a laboratory, referred to as MODAL, within the Ecole Polytechnique's research center. Students tackle a scientific theme one day a week for a period of nine weeks.
-In association with the École Polytechnique's laboratories, all students work in small groups on a Group Science Project. This work is carried out throughout the entire year, half a day per week.

> In year 3
-Specialization studies offer all students new opportunities for immersion in the Ecole Polytechnique's laboratories.
-Students have the option of replacing certain year 3 courses/modules with a laboratory project for one term.
-All students complete a research internship for a minimum of three months, which can be extended up to five months. These internships take place in academic laboratories, but also in industrial R&D teams in France or abroad.

> After the Polytechnicien Program
A third of students who enter a government administrative body or organization complete a PhD, and almost a quarter of other students continue their engineering studies with a PhD.
