Partnerships and Networks

Relationships with institutional and industrial partners are central to the École Polytechnique's strategy. They are the driving force behind all the Ecole's teaching and research activities. 

With the creation of the Industrial Relations and Partnerships Department, the École Polytechnique has provided itself with one of the keys to increasing technology transfer via patent licences and the creation of start-up companies.

Different types of partnerships

Academic partnerships

The École Polytechnique is part of the ParisTech network, which involves 12 grandes écoles' in the Paris region. It has special links with the grandes écoles' and universities in the region, such as the École Normale Supérieure, ENSTA ParisTech, the University of Paris VI, the University of Paris XI, Mines ParisTech, École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, IN2P3, INRIA, INSERM and the Institute of Optics graduate school (IOGS).

Scientific partnerships

The Research Centre has reinforced its centres of excellence and its involvement in major local scientific partnerships, including the two Themed Advanced Research Networks (RTRA) Digiteo (1200 researchers) and Triangle de la Physique (1800 researchers), several Science Interest Groups (SIG) and worldwide competitive clusters System@tic, Medicen Paris-Région and Finance Innovation.

International partnerships

The École Polytechnique has signed around 179 agreements with the most prestigious foreign partner universities. It is part of the international IDEA League network via ParisTech, and Programme Alliance (Columbia University, Sciences Po, the University of Paris 1 and the École Polytechnique).

Leading research towards innovation
With its sound experience of partnership research programmes and joint research teams with large groups, small firms and start-ups, the École Polytechnique is actively developing new ways of cooperating with key socio-economic players.
