L'X named 5th most international institution in the world
Every year, the Times Higher Education publishes a ranking of the 100 most international universities in the world. In 2015, École Polytechnique arrives in the 5th place.
This ranking of the 100 most international universities in the world is based on data from the 2015 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. It positions École Polytechnique among the 5 most international institutions in the world, after École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, University of Geneva, ETH Zürich and National University of Sigapore. L'X jumped of 23 places in comparison with the 2014 ranking.
The three main factors that Times Higher Education takes into consideration for this ranking are the institution’s percentage of international staff, its international student numbers and the proportion of its research papers published with a co-author from at least one other country. École Polytechnique offers a variety of international programs and attracts a growing number of foreign students and researchers from around the globe (currently 30% of students and 23% of faculty members). L'X also wields a large network of partner universities located all over the world.
Phil Baty, editor of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, said: “Having a diverse student body and encouraging academics to collaborate with their international colleagues are key factors in securing a powerful global reputation. It is clear from this ranking that École Polytechnique is among the best higher education institutions in the world when it comes to international outlook.”
