HOW TO FINANCE YOUR VENTURE

PRESENTATION:
If your firm is a startup you will need to demonstrate that your team, your business model and your cash flow generation offer an attractive profile for investors interested in your growth and the future valuation of the company. The purpose of this course is to give you the keys to understanding this ecosystem so that you can make the best funding decisions.

ABOUT THIS COURSE:

We have two broad learning goals for this course:

1) Show that your strategy and your business model involve a certain format of cash flow circulation. It is imperative for you to understand how your venture's operations are running, where its money is coming from, and how it is being spent. Our goal is that you understand this interaction and make optimal financial decisions.

2) Give you the keys to assess a value creation strategy that aligns business strategy, financial strategy, and investor strategy. The finance needs of a start-up should take account of these key areas leading to an efficient fundraising, from the origin until a possible IPO (Initial Public Offering of securities just before they can trade on the stock market).

WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR:

You are interested in our MOOC "How to finance your venture" because you seriously consider the idea of starting your own business.

You are ambitious, you plan for growth and you know that funds are needed to finance growth.

You already have notions of business strategy and accounting.

FORMAT

Quizzes are used throughout our course to monitor your knowledge acquisition and understanding. Quizzes are automatically-graded assignments.

But we also wanted to confront you with a case. It illustrates a real-life situation. The case will be an open-ended assignment designed to develop your evaluative judgement. We consider the Initial Primary Offering of Square. Square is a firm which has been backed by venture capital since inception.

AMBITION, KNOWLEDGE, AND JUDGEMENT ARE WORTHLESS IF THEY AREN’T BACKED BY THE SHEER COURAGE TO DO. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NEW BUSINESS VENTURE!
