Use case: how to query the list of graduates of École polytechnique ?
The search engine needs you to spell correctly the first and last name; a deviation of 3 characters is allowed, not more. The accents are optional. Uppercase and lowercase are not significant.
The first and last names are spelled in priority as listed in the Official Journal (polytechnician cycle) and as they are spelled in the last edited version of the diploma in other cases. A composed first name should be written integrally and with the hyphen.
A student may have received a part of a cursus at École Polytechnique under the responsibility of another institution. In this case, this student is not in the list of graduates of École Polytechnique.

For a polytechnician (engineering cycle) the "promotion" is the year of the beginning of schooling, not the year of graduation. For example, the promotion X1989 entered l'X in August 1989 and graduated in August 1992. Since the promotion X1999, a student of engineering cycle successively obtained two degrees: an engineering degree from École polytechnique after the confirmation of the first 3 years of studies and then the degree of École polytechnique after the validation of the 4th year.

Ph. D.

The career of the Ph. D. of École polytechnique before their thesis is varied, some are polytechnician (engineering cycle), many come from all the horizons and all originate from their sector of excellence.
Many polytechnicians (engineering cycle) are also PhDs. But among the polytechnicians, only those who were enrolled in the graduate school of École polytechnique appear in this database.
