Marc Gillmann is the new Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at École Polytechnique. His mission is to consolidate the success, appeal, and influence of the X-Novation Center, which includes École Polytechnique's incubator, as well as a Fablab, and multiple services related to innovation.
As part of a joint research project with Christophe Josserand, Deputy Director of the Hydrodynamics Laboratory (LadHyX) and lecturer at the École Polytechnique and the CNRS, École Polytechnique welcomed a visit from Sergio Rica, a researcher from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC). This international mobility was supported by the Erasmus+ program was granted for its application to foster collaborations with partner universities in Chile.
From July 18 to 21, École Polytechnique hosted the International Physics Olympiad, the first time this event has been held in France since its inception in 1967. The event was an acknowledgement of École Polytechnique's eminent role in physics research and transmission. The event was also an opportunity to highlight the role played by women in key advancements of this scientific discipline.
École Polytechnique and the University of Pisa have renewed their double degree agreement, which enables students of the Ingenieur Polytechnicien program to specialize in physics at the prestigious partner institution in Italy during their 4th year of studies. Upon completing their studies for the Master of Physics degree at the University of Pisa, students will be awarded a diploma from the Italian partner university, in addition to their diploma in engineering sciences of the École Polytechnique.
A publication by researchers at the Irradiated Solids Laboratory (LSI*) has just been awarded the Brunauer Prize by the American Ceramic Society. The researchers succeeded in isolating and studying the structure and reactivity of a concrete mineral to demonstrate its role in the problem of concrete degradation in sulfated environments. This problem directly affects the durability of buildings.
Three student teams from École Polytechnique’s Master's program STEEM (Energy Environment: Science, Technology & Management) participated in the international competition EuroTeQaThon 2025, which was organized at Eindhoven University of Technology from June 14 to 16, 2025. The internationally renowned Slovenian mathematician Igor Klep is joining the Laboratory of Computer Science (LIX) and the Center for Theoretical Physics (CPHT) at École Polytechnique as a Gaspard Monge Visiting Professor. A professor of mathematics at both the University of Ljubljana and the University of Primorska in Slovenia, Igor Klep is collaborating on quantum information theory research with the PhIQus research group, led by Marc-Olivier Renou, INRIA Saclay Junior Professor Chair and affiliated researcher at LIX and CPHT.
