Launched by the SNCF group, the École polytechnique and the Fondation de l'École polytechnique, this new teaching and research chair will develop innovative AI-based technologies to improve the quality and sustainability of transport. It will involve Polytechnique engineering students in the challenges of sustainable mobility.

The international Chair 'Data Science Institute’ has been renewed
Orange Group, Société Générale Côte d'Ivoire, INP-HB, ENSEA, École Polytechnique and the Foundation of École Polytechnique are renewing the ‘Data Science Institute’ international Chair to continue its international teaching programme in data science. The renewal was celebrated on 8 July 2024.

Online platforms: users under influence
The Cambridge Analytica scandal has shown that targeting technologies on online platforms (Google, Facebook, Tik Tok...) go beyond the simple sale of objects or services to invest in the realm of information. The work of Oana Goga, a researcher at École Polytechnique's Computer science laboratory (LIX), studies the impact of these technologies on privacy, security and the manipulation of public opinion. They have fuelled reflection on the European Union's Digital Services Act and are being continued today as part of an ERC Starting Grants fellowship.

AI: €70 million for the “Hi! PARIS Cluster 2030” project led by IP Paris and HEC Paris
A consortium led by the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, of which X is a founding member, and HEC Paris has won a €70 million call for IA Cluster projects. This collective success will have numerous spin-offs for the X laboratories involved in the Hi! PARIS Interdisciplinary Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis.

Three École Polytechnique researchers win ERC Advanced Grants
Every year, the European Research Council supports ground-breaking research and scientific excellence. In 2024, Charles Baroud, from École Polytechnique’s Hydrodynamics Laboratory (LadHyX), Olivier Gossner, from the Centre for Research in Economics and Statistics (CREST) and Joris van der Hoeven from École Polytechnique’s Computer Laboratory each receive an ERC fellowship in the Advanced Grants category.

Inauguration of the Chair “Trustworthy and Responsible Artificial Intelligence”
Crédit Agricole S.A., École Polytechnique and the École Polytechnique Foundation are launching the Chaire "Trustworthy and Responsible Artificial Intelligence". Its aim is to explore and define new methods for designing Artificial Intelligence systems that are ethical, robust, secure, frugal, and explainable.

The "Data Science and Industrial Processes" Chair, in partnership with UM6P, co-directed at École Polytechnique by Eric Moulines and supported by the OCP Group, helped organize the "Winter School - Generative AI" conference held from February 26 to March 1, 2024 in Morocco.

Graduation of the first class of the Specialized Master's program ETRE in Ivory Coast
The first class of the specialized Master's program "Renewable Energies: Technology and Entrepreneurship" (ETRE), launched by École Polytechnique and Institut National Polytechnique Félix Houphouët-Boigny in September 2021 to train executives specialized in renewable energy in Ivory Coast, successfully completed the curriculum. The graduation ceremony took place at the French embassy in Abidjan, on 1st March 2024, in the presence of the French Ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire Jean-Christophe Belliard.

Regulation in the fight against global warming at the heart of the 2nd REFLEXIONS international conference at École Polytechnique
On June 9, the second REFLEXIONS International conference, organized by the Institut Polytechnique de Paris at Ecole Polytechnique, brought together numerous academic and scientific experts, public and private sector leaders and civil society stakholders to contribute to understanding and resolving regulatory issues in the fight against global warming.

Big and Fast Data Analytics
Yanlei Diao, a Professor at the Computer Science Laboratory of the École Polytechnique, develops new algorithms and methods to analyse and extract useful insights from data. Her work funded by the European Research Council is conducted in collaboration with major research institutions and industrial partners.
