Three collective scientific projects from the X2022 class awarded
Nine Collective Scientisfic Projects (CSPs) were selected by the education and research departments from the 112 CSPs of the X2022 class. A jury made up of personalities from the worlds of academia, business and the press singled out three of them at the final held on September 16.

Samsung Healthcare acquires a start-up spun off from École Polytechnique’s research
Sonio, the result of mathematical research carried out at the Centre for Applied Mathematics (CMAP), is developing a solution to support practitioners in the conduct of fetal ultrasound and antenatal diagnosis. Automated with the help of artificial intelligence, this tool aims to detect anomalies in real time, or after the examination to remove any doubt. Launched in 2020, its acquisition by the medical subsidiary of Korean giant Samsung has just been finalized.

École polytechnique hosts the international final of the 38th Mathematical and Logical Games Championship
Organized by the French Mathematical Games Federation on August 25 and 26 at l'X, the event brought together over 500 competitors from 15 different countries. In hosting the event, l'X illustrates two of the principles that animated its founding fathers 230 years ago: recruiting the best scientific talent from all horizons, and delivering scientific and technical training of excellence based on solid mathematical foundations.

MERGE: biology through A+B
How does a bacterial line behave in the face of a cocktail of antibiotics, cancer cells in the face of chemotherapy, or the Guyanese forest in the face of climate change? At the Center for Applied Mathematics (CMAP), the MERGE team works at the interface between biology and mathematics. It contributes to the emergence of new questions and tools in the latter field, while shedding light on the problems faced by biologists.

AI: €70 million for the “Hi! PARIS Cluster 2030” project led by IP Paris and HEC Paris
A consortium led by the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, of which X is a founding member, and HEC Paris has won a €70 million call for IA Cluster projects. This collective success will have numerous spin-offs for the X laboratories involved in the Hi! PARIS Interdisciplinary Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Analysis.

CLIFIRIUM: a multidisciplinary conference on climate economics
The second CLIFIRIUM conference (Climate finance, risk and uncertainty modelling) was held from 09 to 11 October 2023 at the Banque de France and the French Banking Federation. It was organised by the "Stress-Test: Risk Management and Financial Steering" Chair, headed by Emmanuel Gobet (professor at the École Polytechnique) at the Center for Applied Mathematics (CMAP*) and supported by BNP Paribas.
