The Board of Directors
Led by the President, the Board of Directors is composed of the Director-General, representatives of the State, faculty members, students, alumni, leading figures from higher education and research establishments, and top executives from public and private organizations.

The Director-General – The interim President of the Board of Directors - François Bouchet
Under the authority of the President of the Board of Directors, the Director-General oversees the administration and military leadership of the school. The President of the Board of Directors is responsible for accomplishing the school's strategic missions.
François Bouchet is an École Polytechnique graduate (class of X86) as well as a graduate of Supaéro. Since December 2013, he was director of the land systems division within the DGA (General Direction for Armament).
In charge of ground operations, Francois Bouchet initiated the launch of the SCORPION program and the dedicated operation for Special Forces vehicles.
In 2016, he was in charge of the acquisition of FAMAS next generation and multi-purpose tactical light vehicles. Since he joined the DGA, François Bouchet held various positions of responsibility in managing armaments operations, particularly in the field of tactical missiles and radiocommunications. As an architect for armed forces within the Strategy Direction, he conducted, along with the Army Chief of Staff, cooperation strategies and the capability approach of its field, thus participating to the 2013 White Paper guidelines. He was the CTO of CEAT - Toulouse Aeronautical Testing Center.
At the end of 2005, he managed the merging of two “Grandes Écoles”, Supaéro and Ensica that gave birth to ISAE-Supaéro, a world leader in aerospace engineering higher education. He was appointed Deputy Director of ISAE-Supaéro in 2007. François Bouchet was made Lieutenant-General (Armament Corps) on January, 1st, 2017. He was decorated with the awards of the “Ordre National du Mérite” and “ Légion d’Honneur”.
The Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research - Frank Pacard
This post is appointed by decree of the Minister of Defense, through nomination by the President of the Board of Directors, upon recommendation of the Board.
An École Polytechnique graduate (Class of X84), Frank Pacard also earned an engineering degree at École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées, follwed by a PhD in Mathematics and an HDR research accreditation. He is the author of over sixty scientific articles and supervises several research projects.
Recognized for his work at the crossroads between geometry and analysis of partial differential equations, he was inducted as a member of the Institut Universitaire de France in 2004 and was a guest speaker at the prestigious 2010 International Congress of Mathematicians held in Hyderabad, India.
He began his career as an engineer in the Bridge and Highway Corps (Corps des Ponts et Chaussées). In 1990, he joined the CERGRENE (Center for Education and Research in Natural Resources and Environmental Management), a laboratory at the École des Points, where he conducted research in the water management modelling field.
In 1994, he became a professor of University Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC), where he founded a research laboratory in pure and applied mathematics. He also served as Director of the university's doctoral school for over six years. From 2001 to 2011, he served as the delegate for mathematics in the Office of Research and Innovation at the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, where he contributed to the establishment of the National Institute for Mathematical Sciences and Interactions within the CNRS. He has also been the head of the Franco-Brazilian Mathematics Network since 2011, which promotes scientific collaborations between France and Brazil.
Frank Pacard joined École Polytechnique in 2010 as a professor of Mathematics and Director of the Laurent Schwartz Center for Mathematics (CMLS).
