The President - Eric Labaye

Eric Labaye is President of École Polytechnique and in charge of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, an alliance between École Polytechnique, ENSTA ParisTech, ENSAE ParisTech, Télécom ParisTech and Télécom SudParis. He is a member of the board of Telecom Paris Tech, the International Advisory Board of ESSEC, and the Board of Advisors of the School of Public Affairs at Sciences Po.

In his previous role, Eric Labaye was Senior Partner (Director) at McKinsey & Company and Chairman of McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), McKinsey’s business & economic research arm. Prior to this, he was Managing Director of the France office and led the firm’s global knowledge and communications function, as a member of the Global Operating Committee. He was also a member of the Shareholders Council of the firm for ten years, of which he chaired the Client Committee. At McKinsey, Eric Labaye had the opportunity to work extensively for clients globally in the Telecom, High-tech and industrial sectors, as well as for governments and public institutions on a variety of strategic and operational issues. He conducted many research projects with MGI and in France on key economic topics, including growth in Europe, productivity, digitalization, future of work and inequality. Eric Labaye also initiated and co-led McKinsey’s “Women Matter” research program, which, since 2007, aims to promote gender diversity in large companies’ senior management. He was a member of the “Commission pour la Libération de la Croissance Française” (Release Growth in France), from 2007 to 2010, and a member of the “Commission Economique de la Nation” (French National Economic Commission) from 2005 to 2014.

Eric Labaye is a graduate from École Polytechnique and Telecom ParisTech and holds an MBA with distinction (Henry Ford II award) from INSEAD.
 

The Director-General –  François Bouchet
Under the authority of the President of the Board of Directors, the Director-General oversees the administration and military leadership of the school. The President of the Board of Directors is responsible for accomplishing the school's strategic missions.

François Bouchet is an École Polytechnique graduate (class of X86) as well as a graduate of Supaéro. Since December 2013, he was director of the land systems division within the DGA (General Direction for Armament).
In charge of ground operations, Francois Bouchet initiated the launch of the SCORPION program and the dedicated operation for Special Forces vehicles.

In 2016, he was in charge of the acquisition of FAMAS next generation and multi-purpose tactical light vehicles. Since he joined the DGA, François Bouchet held various positions of responsibility in managing armaments operations, particularly in the field of tactical missiles and radiocommunications. As an architect for armed forces within the Strategy Direction, he conducted, along with the Army Chief of Staff, cooperation strategies and the capability approach of its field, thus participating to the 2013 White Paper guidelines. He was the CTO of CEAT - Toulouse Aeronautical Testing Center.

At the end of 2005, he managed the merging of two “Grandes Écoles”, Supaéro and Ensica that gave birth to ISAE-Supaéro, a world leader in aerospace engineering higher education. He was appointed Deputy Director of ISAE-Supaéro in 2007. François Bouchet was made Lieutenant-General (Armament Corps) on January, 1st, 2017. He was decorated with the awards of the “Ordre National du Mérite” and “ Légion d’Honneur”.
 

The Vice President for Academic Affairs and Research - Yves Laszlo
This post is appointed by decree of the Minister of Defense, through nomination by the President of the Board of Directors, upon recommendation of the Board.

Yves Laszlo holds a Doctorate degree in Mathematics from Paris-Sud University (1988), and is a specialist in Algebraic Geometry. Following a career as a research fellow at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and then as a professor at the University Pierre and Marie Curie (UPMC), he became an associate professor at École Polytechnique in 2004, at the Laurent Schwartz Mathematics Center (CMLS), which he led from 2006 to 2010. Then, he became a professor at Paris-Sud University, where he initiated and then managed the Jacques Hadamard Mathematical Foundation (FMJH) and the Hadamard Mathematics LabEx (LMH), the mission of which was to bring together the mathematicians located on the plateau de Saclay campus.  

From 2012 to 2019, he was named Deputy Director for Sciences at École Normale Supérieure (ENS) de Paris. In this role, he was in charge of teaching, research, real estate, human resources and all scientific-related matters at the school. He was also responsible for his representation at Paris Sciences et Lettres (PSL).
