Studying at l'X

Non-graduating program

Two non-degree programs are offered to international students.

The International Academic Exchange Program that allows international students enrolled for a degree program in science or engineering at an institution outside of France to come to École Polytechnique to take courses.

The Internship Program for International Students that allows students from École polytechnique's partner institutions to complete a research internship of 3 to 6 months in one of its research centers.

Graduating Program

École Polytechnique has signed around twenty double degree agreements enabling students preselected by partner institutions to take the international competitive exam for the Ingénieur Polytechnicien program or to join École Polytechnique's MScT. At the end of their double degree program, students generally obtain a degree from both l'X and their home university while benefiting from a high-quality international scientific training.

Academic follow-up

Special attention is paid to academic support. Students at École Polytechnique benefit from language training adapted to the courses they come to attend, the organisation of integration weeks or terms upstream of the scientific courses given in the programs, and academic tutoring during their training.

French as a Foreign Language (FLE)

Non-French speaking international students have access to trainings in French as a foreign language organized by l'X for the Bachelor, the Ingénieur Polytechnicien program and MScT programs.

These courses take place within the framework of internal and/or external programs via partnerships with specialised centres. The objective of these courses is to enable each student admitted to École Polytechnique to follow the courses taught in French as part of the programs and to successfully integrate in France and on the School's campus.

Reception, integration and administrative support

École polytechnique has a reception and service office for international students (BasiX) specifically dedicated to international students, to help them complete the formalities required for their stay in France (residence permit, medical insurance, on-campus accommodation depending on the program). This service also participates in and monitors their integration at l'X (cultural outings, cohesion activities, etc.).
