Ranking: l’X excels in corporate social responsibility

Times Higher Education has published a new ranking on universities’ involvement in social corporate responsibility. École Polytechnique is one of nine French institutions to have made it onto the list.

The global higher education sector is getting involved in CSR, as shown by Times Higher Education in the newly established University Impact Rankings 2019, published on April 2, 2019. This classification is based on 11 sustainable development objectives set by the United Nations, such as the promotion of gender equality and the fight against climate change. Over 450 universities from 76 countries were assessed according to these criteria, with the University of Auckland coming in first place, followed by McMaster University, Canada.

L’X is one of nine French universities to appear in the ranking: AMU (43rd), Centrale Nantes (101-200), University of Nantes (101-200), École Polytechnique (201-300), IMT Atlantique (201-300), University of Montpellier (201-300), Paris 1 University (201-300), INSA Lyon (301 et +) Paris 8 University (301+).

To create the list, Times Higher Education assessed universities’ performances according to 11 goals, namely good health and well-being; quality education; gender equality; decent work and economic growth; industry, innovation and infrastructure; reduced inequalities; sustainable cities and communities; responsible consumption and production; climate action; peace, justice and strong institutions; and finally, partnerships for the goals.
