École Polytechnique well represented and well placed at the 2025 International Mathematics Competition

Eleven Cycle Ingénieur Polytechnicien and Bachelor's students from École Polytechnique took part in the International Mathematics Competition 2025, which took place from July 28 to August 3 in Bulgaria, at the initiative of the Department of Mathematics. As in previous editions, École Polytechnique students achieved excellent results both individually and as a team.

Organized by University College London, the 32nd edition of the International Mathematics Competition for Students took place from July 28 to August 3, 2025, at the American University of Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria.

The competition focuses on solving concrete mathematical problems that may arise in the business world or public institutions, and aims to encourage bridges between theoretical research in mathematics and its applications. The competition consisted of three problems published one by one, each with its own evaluation system.

Under the leadership of Siarhei Finski (researcher-teacher and competition organizer within the Department of Mathematics) and Majdi Medjahed (PhD student and team leader), eleven Cucle Ingénieur Polytechnicien and Bachelor's degree students made the trip.

Three gold medals, three silver medals, and one bronze medal

 École Polytechnique team, composed of Mounir Lbath, Tudor Constantin Paisanu, Mohamed Taha Ramlaoui, Rares-Constantin Spineanu, Alexandru-Petru Ardelean, Edward Torac-Toma, Haitam École Polytechnique Yassine Oujaa, Omar Cherif, Ali Hakim, and led by Majdi Medjjahed, came in 17th place out of the 74 teams competing. 

The team of independent students not affiliated with their home institution, which came in 3rd place, included two students from École Polytechnique: Michaël Kabran and Tiena Ange Sigata Emmanuel Soro. 

Of the twelve participants from École Polytechnique, three won gold medals (first prize): Mounir Lbath, Mohamed Taha Ramlaoui, and Tudor Constantin Paisanu.

Three received silver medals (second prize): Alexandru-Petru Ardelean, Rares-Constantin Spineanu, and Edward Torac-Toma.

The bronze medal (third prize) was awarded to Haitam Yassine Oujaa. 

The participants were selected and trained by Majdi Medjahed, who supervised the students' work and ensured that the competition ran smoothly.
