Erasmus Days: L’X promotes international mobility
On 15 October 2026, the 'Erasmus Day' took place as part of the 10th edition of the Erasmus Days “Learning and Growing: Skills for tomorrow”, centered on the skills at the heart of Europe's future.
Organized by École Polytechnique’s International Affairs Office, this event brought the institution’s community together around international studies and academic, scientific, and administrative exchanges abroad. Several booths showcased the many international mobility opportunities available to students, faculty, and staff at l’X, as well as the Erasmus+ grants available to help them pursue their international projects. Several specific tools, such as the Europass, the Erasmus+ app, and the European Student Card are also offered by Erasmus+ to make international mobility easier.
Another booth was dedicated to the Buddy System, a student mentoring platform in Europe, initiated by the Erasmus Student Network. The Erasmus Day event also highlighted joint initiatives and opportunities for mobility at partner universities in Europe within the framework of EuroTeQ, the European university alliance of which École Polytechnique is a founding member.
The annual Erasmus Days event is an invitation to celebrate Europe and its values while highlighting the priorities of Erasmus+, the European Union's flagship programme in the fields of education, training, youth and sport, together with the international mobility opportunities it provides.
Studies abroad, an invaluable experience
Whether they are enrolled in the Ingénieur Polytechnicien Program, the Bachelor of Science program, one of the twelve Master of Science and Technology (MSc&T) programs, or Phd studies, École Polytechnique encourages its students to take the leap into an international academic experience and explore the world.
Each degree programme includes at least one period of several months that can be spent abroad. The students enrolled in the Ingénieur Polytechnicien Program are required to complete at least one internship or a period of study abroad during their studies.
In 2025, over 110 students and staff members received Erasmus+ financial support for their mobility projects. The goal for the coming year is to further encourage mobility within Europe, both as part of the EuroTeQ European University and in collaboration with other European partners.
International mobility opportunities are also available to academic staff, who can undertake teaching or training periods abroad, as well as to other staff members, who can participate in job-shadowing or training activities, such as staff weeks.
European values at the heart of the Erasmus+ program
The event is also an opportunity to highlight the principles that the European Union promotes through the Erasmus+ program: inclusion and diversity, environmental protection, commitment to democratic debate, civic engagement, and digital transformation.
Priority for mobility grants is given to students from all programmes who meet the Erasmus+ inclusion criteria. To encourage the choice of eco-friendly means of transport, such as the train, bicycle, or carpooling, the Erasmus+ programme offers additional grants when these modes of transport are used. More than half of École Polytechnique's students chose eco-friendly means of transport in 2025, and further growth is expected in 2026, with already over 68% using an eco-friendly mode of transport.
Demonstrating the civic engagement of the institution’s students, nine of them are receiving Erasmus+ mobility grants as part of their first-year human and military training period in the Ingénieur Polytechnicien program, in French institutions and high schools across Europe in 2026.
Photo contest – capture the Erasmus+ spirit
Students who went abroad on mobility with the support of the Erasmus+ program could participate in a photo contest, and the photo exhibition invited the public to discover their experience.
In recognition of the photos that best captured the Erasmus spirit, the contest honoured four winners: Yahya Radouan and Olivier Girard tied in votes and shared first prize for their photos recounting their experiences in Germany and Iceland. Alexis Ruel took second place for an image captured during his mobility in Greenland, and Alexandre Buendia came in third with his photo of Sweden.
