Étienne Minvielle, professor and researcher, now a permanent member of the National Academy of Medecine

Étienne Minvielle, Professor and CNRS Research Director at the École Polytechnique’s Center for Management Research (i3-CRG, jointly administered with the CNRS, of which he is the director), has been officially appointed a lifetime member of the National Academy of Medicine. This distinction, formalized by a decree published in August 2026, recognizes his longstanding commitment to the fields of public health, hospital management, and innovation in healthcare systems management.

Also a public health physician at the Gustave Roussy Center for the past 25 years and a doctor of management sciences, Étienne Minvielle is known for his work on the organization and personalization of patient care pathways, the integration of digital technology in healthcare, and quality and performance management in hospitals.

This permanent appointment to the Academy’s “Medicine and Society” section—which follows two years as an elected corresponding member—is a natural extension of his major contributions to research and teaching, addressing topics such as remote monitoring and the use of AI as key drivers in the personalization of patient care pathways. Directly reporting to the President of the Republic, this position entails advising the government and responding to official consultations from public authorities on health issues, while continuing to participate in research and studies for the benefit of society.

Etienne Minvielle is also the author of a forthcoming book, "Nos vies sur mesure : Enquête sur un monde qui sait tout de nous *, on the personalization of medicine and other societal aspects.
