On October 16, École Polytechnique's International Affairs Office invited students and staff to focus on international outreach and to celebrate intercultural dialogue and connections. With nearly 40% of its students and 41% of its faculty coming from abroad, École Polytechnique is firmly focused on the world and proud of the multicultural diversity of its community.

The International Day also provided an opportunity to highlight the Erasmus+ program, which supports many students, teacher-researchers, and staff members at École Polytechnique in their mobility projects every year. Within this framework, École Polytechnique welcomes international students and researchers for extended stays as part of academic and research exchange programs, while numerous students from l’X undertake a semester or internship abroad to enrich their academic experience.

Several students joined this year’s Erasmus Days Challenge, capturing and sharing moments from their adventures abroad for this photo contest. Their photos were displayed in an exhibition, attracting visitors eager to travel the world through their images.

Selected by public vote, the winning photos were announced during the International Day event: Third place went to "On the Roof of Torino" by Colas Lepoutre, taken during an internship at Monte Viso. Clément Brunel earned second place with "Dune Polaire", captured during his exchange semester in Sweden. Finally, the first prize was awarded to "Voyage au bout du monde", a picture taken by Vincent Trémolières in Abisko, Swedish Lapland.

In addition, a new language exchange program, organized by the French Section of École Polytechnique’s Department of Languages and Cultures, was launched during the International Day.
It’s a language tandem designed to foster exchanges between international and French students, and across the various degree programs at École Polytechnique. We were delighted to see how enthusiastic the students were about this new project,” explained Julie André, Associate Professor of French Language and Literature and coordinator of the French Section in the Department of Languages and Cultures at École Polytechnique.

The International Team of the Career Center also provided personalized guidance to students seeking to complete an internship or start their professional career abroad. Meanwhile, a booth dedicated to the European University EuroTeQ allowed visitors to learn more about the various initiatives of this network, which brings together eight partner universities, including École Polytechnique. Spread across Europe, all are among the continent’s leading institutions in science and technology.

To extend the day’s journey around the world, a festive dinner organized by the student unions of the Program Ingénieur polytechnicien (La Kès), the Bachelor program (L’Ore), and the Masters of Science & Technology (Le Mox) invited the entire community on a culinary journey around the world new flavors. Participants enjoyed tasting traditional dishes from around the world and celebrating international culinary diversity.

* The language exchange program is open to all students enrolled in École Polytechnique programs. (Registration by email to julie.andré@polytechnique.edu)
