École Polytechnique has announced the launch, at the start of the 2026 academic year, of a new track within its Master of Science and Technology (MSc&T) program designed to bridge the growing gap between research advances and the practical needs of companies that are currently struggling to implement artificial intelligence technologies.

Called "Large Language Models, Graphs, and Applications" (LLGA), this new track has been specifically designed to train artificial intelligence engineers capable of turning innovation into real economic value.

This MSc&T track is designed for high-achieving students with a strong quantitative background who wish to acquire cutting-edge skills in complex problem-solving and AI project management. The program combines research-based instruction from internationally recognized faculty with experiential learning through sessions led by industry experts.

The two-year track combines foundational theory with advanced specialization. The first year (M1) includes a phase focused on building a strong foundation (refresher courses in statistics and computer science, as well as courses in machine learning and deep learning) and a phase of immersion in a company or research laboratory. The second year (M2) focuses on specialization and expertise: LLM engineering, model alignment (safety and ethics), and frugal AI. Students complete a capstone project addressing a real-world problem in collaboration with industry partners and conclude the program with a research internship. In addition to technical skills, the program trains responsible professionals capable of navigating the ethical and regulatory challenges of AI.

The MSc&T LLGA complements the program’s 12 existing tracks, all of which are dedicated to major contemporary challenges in the fields of energy and the environment on the one hand, and AI and data science on the other.

Since 2017 and the launch of new degree programs by École Polytechnique, enrollment in the Master of Science & Technology (MSc&T) program has tripled, reaching nearly 430 students. For the 2025–2026 academic year, the MSc&T program attracted 1,242 applications—a 3% increase from the previous year—with 428 candidates admitted and 258 enrolled, including 65% international students and 33% female students.

The 2025 "First Job" survey of 2024 graduates from the MSc&T program showed that nearly three-quarters of them were hired by companies within three months of completing their studies. All of them are satisfied or very satisfied with their first job experience. While two-thirds of MSc&T graduates are international students, 80% of employed graduates begin their careers in France.
