A new Chair dedicated to AI, digital sovereignty, and industrial performance

École Polytechnique, in partnership with Campus AI, announces the creation of a Chair—also supported by the Fondation de l’X—dedicated to artificial intelligence, digital sovereignty, and industrial performance. Signed for a five-year term, this partnership aims to support cutting-edge research, promote training and inclusion, and strengthen ties between the academic world and industry.

A crucial partnership for AI in France

Against the backdrop of rapid transformation driven by artificial intelligence, the partners aim to actively contribute to the development of a leading scientific and technological ecosystem in France.

Supported by Campus AI, an organization committed to developing a campus dedicated to AI in the Île-de-France region, this partnership is part of a broader effort to foster international cooperation and strengthen European capabilities in strategic technologies.
The Chair will bring together the academic expertise of École Polytechnique with the industrial challenges associated with the development and deployment of large-scale AI solutions.

It will be led by Dominique Rossin, Director of Teaching and Research at École Polytechnique.

A strong scientific and societal vision

The Chair’s work will focus on several key objectives:
•    To conduct cutting-edge research on the foundations and applications of artificial intelligence;
•    To generate and disseminate scientific knowledge to the academic and industrial communities as well as the general public;
•    To promote the internationalization of research and teaching activities;
•    Encourage interactions between researchers, students, and industry stakeholders.

In particular, the Chair will support the funding of several École Polytechnique doctoral theses in key areas such as AI applied to healthcare, robotics, and the theoretical foundations of artificial intelligence.

A commitment to training and equal opportunity

In addition to research, the chair will place special emphasis on education and inclusion. Initiatives will be launched to support middle and high school students, in collaboration with École Polytechnique’s Equal Opportunity Center, with the aim of promoting access to science and raising awareness of the challenges posed by artificial intelligence, regardless of the students’ social background.
