Teachers and researchers: a greater focus on gender diversity and internationalisation in recruitment at École Polytechnique.

Nearly forty teaching and research positions are open for recruitment at École Polytechnique for the 2026 campaign. Ten disciplines are involved, including physics, applied mathematics, and computer science. This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic ecosystem comprising 23 research laboratories and cutting-edge technologies alongside experts from other leading organisations, such as the CNRS, INRIA and INSERM.

There are numerous academic recruitment opportunities available at École Polytechnique on the Calliopé platform. Located in the heart of the Saclay plateau, the school boasts a vibrant ecosystem that combines research, teaching and innovation to the highest scientific and technological standards. As a founding member of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, École Polytechnique benefits from the collaboration of its 45 research laboratories (23 of which are based within the School) and seven interdisciplinary centres (Energy4Climate, Engineering for Health, CIEDS for Defence and Security, Hi! PARIS for human-centred artificial intelligence, Material for Society, CIMO for the Seas and Oceans, and SPIRAL for the Arts and Sciences). In 2024, the Institut Polytechnique de Paris and HEC Paris consortium won a €70 million AI Cluster project over five years with Hi! PARIS. École Polytechnique is thus demonstrating its leading role in developing talent and innovation, particularly in artificial intelligence.

Towards greater gender parity and diversity in recruitment

Determined to attract the best talent to its teaching and research teams and staff, and to attract ever more students to its excellent programs, École Polytechnique is firmly committed to diversity, gender equality, and inclusion.
In 2025, 42% of professors and researchers recruited at École Polytechnique were women. Nearly 25% of its entire faculty are women, and this figure is increasing.

Last year, 10 nationalities were represented among the full-time recruits (60% French, 30% European and 10% non-European). Overall, 41% of teaching and research staff, 55% of doctoral students and 45% of students at École Polytechnique are international.

The school will continue its dynamic and committed HR policy, strengthening the internationalisation and feminisation of its recruitment.

Job offers in many disciplines

This recruitment campaign involves several disciplines: biology, chemistry, economics, humanities and social sciences, computer science, languages and cultures, mathematics, applied mathematics, mechanics, innovation management and entrepreneurship, and physics. There are 8 positions in applied mathematics, 8 in physics and 5 in computer science.

Following the recruitment of several cybersecurity experts in 2025, École Polytechnique is continuing to recruit in this field. In fact, alongside the Ministry of the Armed Forces via the Defence Innovation Agency, the École is committed to developing a centre of excellence in cybersecurity within its computer science laboratory, in order to meet the growing need for digital security and cyber defence in terms of both training and research.

̒At École Polytechnique, every recruitment shapes the future of our institution, so each one is unique. Our scientific and academic reputation depends entirely on the calibre of our faculty members. In an ever-changing and increasingly competitive world, our ambition is clear: to attract the best talent — students, doctoral candidates and professors — to ensure that excellence remains at the heart of our mission.̕

We promote the recruitment of junior profiles with high potential.

Full-time teaching and research staff can benefit from the 'Monge Specific Welcome Programme' (Tenure Track). Through this programme, École Polytechnique aims to recruit junior candidates with high potential who hold a doctorate, enabling them to embark on an independent career in teaching and research. Recruitment is to the position of assistant professor, but under conditions that are very attractive and can lead to tenure as a professor within the first six years.

Welcome packages to attract the best talent

Another key initiative is that, as part of its talent attraction policy, École Polytechnique — with the support of its Foundation — wishes to offer successful faculty members and researchers the best conditions for launching their research programmes at the school.

Welcome packages may be awarded each year to high-level teacher-researchers or researchers who have chosen to join the École, enabling them to develop ambitious research projects quickly.

The 2024-2027 action plan for professional equality between women and men includes the place of women in scientific fields and increasing the proportion of women in future recruitment. In addition to the specific recruitment strategy aimed at encouraging female applicants and the other measures set out in this action plan, the Teacher-Researcher Attractiveness Package  was launched last year.

In addition, a significant annual budget is allocated on a call-for-proposals basis to fund several Launching Packages for faculty members or researchers who have been recruited within the last three years. The aim is to kick-start their projects and help them secure larger-scale national, European or international funding.
