International partners
Europe

École Polytechnique's partner network in Europe comprises over forty universities. Many academic exchange agreements with important European partners have already been in place for a long time. As l'X has obtained the Erasmus Charter, students can participate in international exchanges during their studies and benefit from funding through the Erasmus+ program. The latter also provides funding opportunities for research professors, postdocs, and doctoral students and, in addition, enables the School to host students from Erasmus+ partner countries.

Furthermore, École Polytechnique has designed several double degree programs with European partner institutions, enabling participants to benefit from complementary approaches at the respective partner institutions École Polytechnique is also involved in numerous research collaborations and innovation projects with partner institutions across Europe.

Our partners in Germany

The long-standing partnership with the Technical University of Munich (TUM) offers students at both universities the opportunity to study at a partner university during one or several semesters. In addition, another chapter of the collaboration provides participants in École Polytechnique’s Executive Master’s degree program the opportunity to complete one of the program’s modules at TUM.

The School also collaborates with the FU Berlin (Freie Universität Berlin), offering a double Master’s degree in theoretical physics. The agreement has recently been extended to Institut Polytechnique de Paris.

Our partners in Great-Britain

École Polytechnique’s cooperation agreement with King's College in England allows students of its Bachelor's degree program to spend a semester at this partner university.

Our partners in Switzerland

The School’s main partner institutions in Switzerland are École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and ETH Zürich

École Polytechnique cooperates with EPFL in various areas, including teaching, research, entrepreneurship, and innovation. A double degree agreement permits students in the Ingénieur Politechnicien program to enroll for their 4th year in a specialized master’s degree program at EPFL. Furthermore, École Polytechnique signed a mobility agreement for its Bachelor's degree program with EPFL allowing for academic exchanges in the 3rd year for the specializations in Computer Science and Physics.

The academic collaboration with ETH Zürich focuses on high-energy physics. A joint master's degree in High Energy Physics has been elaborated, providing students with a sound theoretical education and research practice in particle physics and cosmology. The joint Master’s program has now been extended to Institut Polytechnique de Paris. In addition, academic exchange agreements between École Polytechnique and ETH Zürich are in place to allow students to study during one or several semesters at the respective partner institution.

Our Scandinavian partners

The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in Denmark and the Royal Polytechnic School of Stockholm (KTH) in Sweden represent École Polytechnique’s main academic partners in Scandinavia.

The collaboration with DTU focuses on research in the field of energy transition and on academic exchanges within the Bachelor's degree program. Together with KTH, École Polytechnique has concluded a double degree accord for the Ingénieur Politechnicien program.

Our partners in Italy

Far-reaching scientific collaborations, notably in mechanics, connect École Polytechnique and Politecnico di Milano. The two institutions also hold double degree and academic mobility agreements for students and faculty. Moreover, the school collaborates with Bocconi University and encourages academic exchange at the Bachelor’s degree level. École Polytechnique’s partnership with the University of Pisa translates into a double degree agreement for its Ingénieur Polytechnicien program.

Our partners in Belgium

Long-standing partners, the Université Libre de Bruxelles and École Polytechnique have signed a double degree agreement for students within the Ingénieur Polytechnicien program.

Africa

École Polytechnique’s collaborations in Africa focus on several areas.

Local preparatory classes for the entrance exam of French and Moroccan Grandes Écoles

École Polytechnique is committed to supporting the set-up and consolidation of local preparatory classes in Ivory Coast (in collaboration with the Institut National Polytechnique Félix Houphouët Boigny). These local preparatory classes train candidates for the entrance exam of French and Moroccan Grandes Écoles.

Academic and scientific collaborations

In Morocco, École Polytechnique has signed diverse partnership agreements, notably with the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), enabling the two institutions to carry out joint research, education, and entrepreneurship projects. Particular mention can be given to the double degree agreement established within the framework of École Polytechnique’s Master’s degree program in Science & Technology focussing on Energy Environment (STEEM).

The School also holds academic exchange agreements with four prominent institutions in Casablanca and Rabat: the Hassania School of Public Works (EHTP), the Mohammadia School of Engineers (EMI), the Rabat School of Mines (ENSMR), and the National Engineering School of Electricity and Mechanics (ENSEM).

Alongside Institut National Polytechnique Félix Houphouët Boigny (INP-HB), the School participates in the "Data Science Institute" sponsorship program in Ivory Coast, supported by Orange Group, Orange Ivory Coast, and Société Générale Ivory Coast. In September 2021, École Polytechnique and INP-HB launched a jointly developed Specialized Master’s degree program in Renewable Energy.

École Polytechnique also contributes to fostering engineering education in the Republic of Guinea. It has signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Higher Education in Guinea and the Gamal Abdel Nasser University of Conakry (UGANC) to support candidates financially and, thus, enable them to enroll in preparatory classes in France (in partnership with the Lycée du Parc, Lyon).

Asia-Pacific

École Polytechnique has academic and scientific collaborations with over twenty prestigious institutions in Asia- Pacific.

For more than 25 years, École Polytechnique has closely collaborated with the University of Tokyo in Japan and encouraged mobility with this partner institution. In addition, partnerships have been concluded with Tokyo University of Technology, Keio University, Kyoto University, and Osaka Institute of Technology.

The School has set up double degree programs with the VNU-Hanoi University of Science in Vietnam, the National University of Singapore (NUS) in Singapore, Peking University and Zhejiang University in China.

Alongside Telecom Paris, ENSTA, Mines, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, École Polytechnique is a founding member of the SJTU-Paris Elite Institute of Technology (SPEIT) in China. SPEIT offers a world-class 6-year engineering degree program, mainly taught in French.

In Australia, the School has entered in an exchange agreement for its Master of Science & Technology STEEM with the Australian National University (ANU). Further cooperation and mobility agreements exist with the University of Melbourne, the University of South Australia, and the University of Tasmania (UTAS).
