International female students at l'X
In the context of the International Women’s Day, on March 8, École Polytechnique highlights the diversity of women working and studying at l’X. Here are the experiences of some students enrolled in different academic programs: Katherine from Bolivia, Jin from Korea and Sabrina from Italy.
Katherine Alvino is a student in Master of Science in renewable energies. After her studies at the Universidad Privada Boliviana, she decided to specialize in renewable energies at l’X. She enjoyes the international atmosphere on the campus as she has met people coming from all over the globe. Later, she would like to go back to Bolivia to develop renewable energies in her country, lagging behind in this area according to Katherine.
Jin Hwa Lee is a Korean student from the KAIST University and she is currently doing an internship at the Hydrodynamics Laboratory of l’X. She decided to do her internship at l’X due to the high reputation of the institution in her country and to learn French. She is glad to having met researchers and students from around the globe and to acquire a professional experience in a European laboratory.
Sabrina Bassetto is an Italian student from Politecnico di Milano and she is currently doing an exchange program at l’X during her studies in applied mathematics. She chose the Fluid Mechanics’ track. She opted for studies at l’X for the quality of the courses, she also wished to learn French. In September she didn’t know a word in French and now she is perfectly able to have a fluent conversation! She practices piano and swims. What does she enjoy most? The community life on the campus!
Mariana Peña is a Venezuelan student in Master of Renewable Energies at Polytechnique. She graduated from the Simon Bolivar University in Caracas. Her passion: sport. She’s been playing ultimate frisbee for five years and meets a lot of people through this activity. She also runs and climbs. Sport is to her, a real way to exert and to surpass herself.
