Summer School on Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at l'X
From June 25 to 29,2018, the Data Science Initiative organizes the second edition of the Data Science Summer School at École Polytechnique in collaboration with the DATAIA institute. The school will be inaugurated by the mathematician Cédric Villani and will propose courses and conferences led by experts in data science and artificial intelligence.
After the success of the first edition, the Data Science Summer School (DS3) returns from June 25 to 29, 2018 to allow a public from all walks of life to appropriate the science of data. This year, the organization of the summer school is supported by the DATAIA Institute, French institute specialized in data sciences, artificial intelligence and society, to which École Polytechnique contributes.
Mathematician and Deputy Cédric Villani will open this summer school on Monday, June 25 at École Polytechnique, a few weeks after the publication of the report on artificial intelligence which spotlights the role of the French research in mathematics and artificial intelligence at the forefront worldwide. The lecture will be followed by a talk given by Yann LeCun, Head of Facebook's Artificial Intelligence Research Laboratory, and Adrian Weller, Head of Artificial Intelligence at the Alan Turing Institute in Cambridge. This first event will be open to the general public.
Classes, lectures and numerous masterclasses will be offered by leading international experts on cutting-edge topics in data science and artificial intelligence such as machine learning and deep learning. The novelty of the new edition will be sessions dedicated to medical and social sciences.
The expected audience consists of students, post-docs, researchers and professors from the relevant fields as well as professionals in data science. In 2017, DS3 gathered more than 400 participants from 30 nationalities and from 50 companies and 200 international institutions.
Furthermore, the icing on the cake will be another distinguished guest: internationally renowned pastry chef Philippe Conticini will prepare the banquet dessert organized for the occasion.
