Signature of an agreement between l'X and UGANC, Guinea

The signature of a Memorandum of Understanding between École Polytechnique and the Polytechnic Institute of Gamal Abdel Nasser University of Conakry (UGANC) took place on June, 27th in Guinea

Frank Pacard, Provost for Education of École Polytechnique and Gaëlle Le Goff, Deputy Director for Marketing and International Relations, visited Gamal Abdel Nasser University of Conakry, Guinea, on June 26th and 27th in order to sign a Memorandum of Understanding.

The discussions were very fruitful, the delegation of École Polytechnique exchanged with Dr. Doussou Lancinet TRAORE, President of the university, Mr.Mohamed Tafsir DIALLO, the Director of the Polytechnic Institute, and Mr. Abdoulaye Yéro BALDE, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Guinea sets currently up a project of an academic program based on the model of the preparatory classes in France, in order to give the Guinean students the chance to have access to education of excellence and more specifically to engineering schools in France.

The first action within the framework of the MOU will take place in October, François Sylla, researcher at the Applied Optics Laboratory (LOA), will organize a workshop in Conakry in collaboration with the partner university.

Moreover, the first rector of the Polytechnic Institute of Gamal Abdel Nasser University of Conakry was a Albert Boisrayon, X 1935, alumni of École Polytechnique. Albert Boisrayon was inter alia a UNESCO expert, author of Mémoire sur le grand théorème de Fermat and Réflexions sur les concepts de base de la physique, Senior Engineer of Marine Engineering.
