24th edition of École Polytechnique’s international fencing challenge X-SYSTRA

The 24th edition of the international fencing competition X-SYSTRA takes place at École Polytechnqiue on February 12th and 13th


École Polytechnique's annual fencing challenge X-SYSTRA, one of the most important fencing competitions in Europe, brings together more than 250 students of about twenty nationalities coming from thirty European universities.

Thirty one Ingénieur Polytechnicien students, members of the Fencing Association, welcome their international guests for both individual and team matches. Individual competitions for men and women in three weapons take place on February, 12th; team competitions are held on February, 13th. All matches are organized on the campus sports facilities, in the gymnasiums and the arms room; the finals are held in Poincaré amphitheater. International guests will be invited to a typical French aperitif of "Vins et Fromages" (Wine and Cheese) organized on the first evening of the competition.

SYSTRA, the global leader in public transport infrastructure, is the main sponsor of this international sports event. SYSTRA representatives are present throughout the competition in order to introduce the Group, its activities and career possibilities.

Furthermore, fencing is one of the most international and interactive sports activities at École Polytechnique. On January 29th, 2016, Xin Lu and Shasha Cui, two Ingénieur Polytechnicien students, members of the Fencing Association, organized  in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, with the help of trainers Daniel Levavasseur and Xuening XU, a match with world champions of the 2015 Women's Epee Championship in Moscow. World-renowned Chinese athletes as Anqi Xu and Yujie Sun, gold medal winners at the 2012 Olympic Games in London participated in the match. Deputy Mayor of Sport and Youth of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés, Dominique Soulis, was present to watch this match.
