The AX-China Group inaugurates its creation

On November 28, 2018, more than 130 alumni of l'X met at the Maison des Polytechniciens to attend the inauguration ceremony of the AX-China Group, new alumni association. Chinese former students organized the event on the topic "Future: Data, Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence."

The President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, expressed his "wishes of success for this event" and sent "his strongest encouragement in the further development of the AX-China alumni network, that aims at promoting the scientific, technological and economic links between France and China ".

Chen Zhu, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China, President of the Alumni Association of Students of Europe and America, sent his congratulations by a video message. He welcomed AX-China to the alumni associations' family, and expressed his best wishes. He added that AX-China could contribute to strengthening the links between all Chinese students studying in France and around the world.

Eric Labaye, President of École Polytechnique, presented the cooperation strategy and academic exchange opportunities set up with the Chinese partners of l'X. He emphasized that China is a priority country in the international development strategy of l'X and that École Polytechnique aims at attracting the best Chinese talents to study at l'X and provide a positive contribution in various fields of Sino-French cooperation.

Moreover, on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony, Shi Weiliang, Director General of Huawei France and Denis Ranque, President of the École Polytechnique Foundation, signed a cooperation agreement announing the creation of the "AX-China Huawei Fellowship", sponsored by Huawei, aimed at financing excellent Chinese students wishing to enter l'X.

Zheng Ban, Chairman of the first Board of Directors of AX-China talked on the history of the Chinese students at l'X and the projects completed by the Association around the goal "to share, invest and create".

During the discussion on "Future: Data, Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence", President of Airbus Group Denis Ranque presented his point of view on the digital transformation of the company. Professor Emmanuel Bacry shared his experience and the results of analysis on the use of national databases of French health insurance and highlighted the potential of data science in the field of health. Futhermore, more than a dozen of former students of l'X, today successful entrepreneurs and representatives of innovative companies such as Huawei, participated in a discussion on innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of data science.
