DTU delegation at l’X: A visit to strengthen the partnership

On February 19th, a delegation of the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) led by Philipp Binning, Dean of Graduate Studies and International Affairs, and Kratine Krogh Andersen, Dean of Research, visited École Polytechnique.

With École Polytechnique joining the EuroTech Universities Alliance, DTU and l’X wish to strengthen their cooperation. This visit aimed to a discovery of l’X ecosystem, as well as to highlight common interest in order to start working on new bilateral projects.

DTU and l’X already have an ongoing academic cooperation, notably involving two brand-new undergraduate programs entirely taught in English: the Bachelor in General Engineering at DTU and the Bachelor of Science at l’X. An academic exchange agreement was signed and allows students to spend one semester in the partner university. In September 2019, three students from l’X will go to DTU and École Polytechnique expects to welcome students from DTU as part of the International Academic Exchange Program (applications open).

The delegation met with Frank Pacard, Provost, Benoît Deveaud, Vice Provost for Research and Dominique Rossin, Vice Provost for Education, to discuss further new forms of collaborations in Research and Education.

Energy was an important focus of this visit. Both l’X and DTU carry out cutting edge research activities in Energy and Sustainable Development, and offer attractive educational programs in this field. DTU already attracts several fourth-year Ingénieur Polytechnicien students, who choose to do their specialization in Energy in one of the programs offered in Copenhagen. Philippe Drobinski, Director of the Dynamic Meteorology Laboratory, exchanged with the delegation to find new paths of collaboration in this field. A visit of the SIRTA, the experiment site dedicated to research on climate and environment, was also organized to show the facilities available on campus.

The exchanges also focused on Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The delegation visited the Drahi – X Novation Center, guided by its Director Serge Chanchole, and met with Bruno Martinaud, Director of the Master in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Common interests were discussed to implement new forms of collaboration, both bilateral and within the EuroTech Universities Alliance.
