L'X awarded a silver medal at the International Physicists' Tournament
At the end of the 10th edition of the International Physicists' Tournament, which took place from April 3 to 7 in Moscow, École Polytechnique's team was awarded the silver medal and was thus positioned just behind Switzerland. Students from l'X had been selected to represent France last February at the French Physicists' tournament.
For 10 years, teams of students from all over the world have been meeting and sharing their passion for the physical sciences at this international tournament. A list of 17 physics problems is created every year, the teams have about a year to solve them and present themselves at the tournament with their results that have to be in right balance between theories and experiences.
A national high level selection
Before the final phase of the tournament, the national selections are the first test for the different teams of students. Every year, in February, the best French students compete as a team to represent their country at the International Finals of the Physicists' Tournament, a friendly competition but nevertheless of a very high scientific level that is quite similar to the final phase. Students from École Polytechnique have already been several times the best at the national level.
A motivated team from École Polytechnique
The team from École Polytechnique has embarked on the adventure as part of the Collective Science Projects that are taking place throughout the second academic year at l'X. Selected among the most motivated students of the Tournament, the team from l'X shares a taste for physics and a state of mind of discoverers. Constantly in search of new knowledge and methods, students took a lot of pleasure to exchange with the competing teams.
