L'X will represent France at the International Physicists' Tournament
École Polytechnique's team won the 5th French Physicists' Tournament which took place on February 9th and 10th, 2018 at École Normale Supérieure in Paris. Ingénieur Polytechnicien students will represent France at the international final which will take place in Moscow next April.
Twelve teams from all over France have been challenged. Amaury Barral, Anthony Guillen, Clément Brochet, Fang Goh, Julie André, Angel Prieto and Quentin Louis, all from the class of 2016, have competed with students from École Normale Supérieure, Université de Lyon and Université Paris-Sud in the final of the French Physicists' Tournament.
The students were supported by Thibault Guillet, PhD student at the Hydrodynamics laboratory (LadHyX) of l'X, Fabien Cadiz, researcher-professor at the Condensed Matter Physics Laboratory, and Guilhem Gallot, researcher at the Laboratory of Optics and Biosciences and professor at the Department of Physics of l'X.
After 4 "physics fights" and the presentation of 8 different physics problems, the team from l'X came first, before École Normale Supérieure, Université de Lyon and Université Paris-Sud with respectively 175, 170 and 166 points. Seven Ingénieur Polytechnicien students thus won the opportunity to participate in the international final that'll be held in Moscow in April.
