New edition of the Carrefour Chair Hackathon
The Carrefour Next Gen RetAIL Chair launches the 2nd edition of its students challenge on the issues related to digital transformation of an industrial group: "Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Challenge". This Hackathon will take place from February 3rd to March 7th, 2020.
The Carrefour Chair Next Gen RetAIL managed by Eric Moulines, Professor at the Center of Applied Mathematics (CMAP, a UMR CNRS - École Polytechnique), is organizing its 2nd Hackathon from February 3rd to March 7th, 2020, in order to challenge students on their creativity and technical skills. It provides an opportunity for students to confront in the context of digital transformation data science and artificial intelligence typical issues of a large industrial group.
The objective of this challenge is to stimulate students to understand an end-to-end data science project, from the exact definition of the problem, through cleaning and data processing phase, implementation of machine learning algorithms, to get a functional proof of concept.
A month to realize a collaborative project
Starting with the kick-off at the Drahi-X Novation Center on February 3rd, student groups will then have 5 weeks to work remotely, interacting with Carrefour DataLab and X's AI experts. At this term, they submit a project evaluated according to the technical quality of the proposed solutions (algorithms and codes), the originality and the commercial value of the solution.
The 2019 edition brought together some fifty participants from nine teams. The Challenge was won by the Big Data Master of Telecom Paris team with the subject "A new racing experience for our customers through new means of interaction". They proposed a project with a VoiceBot assisting customers in their online shopping journey.
Registration for the 2020 edition is open and reserved to students of IP Paris and the Saclay scientific area.
