President of l’X visited ZJU and received its delegation at l’X
In December 2018, President of École Polytechnique Eric Labaye visited Zhejiang University during his trip to China, accompanied by a delegation of researchers and members of École Polytechnique's administration, and met with his colleague, President Wu Zhaohui. Some weeks later, he received a delegation from ZJU at l’X.
L’X and Zhejiang University, that just celebrated its 120th anniversary in 2017 and which is ranked 3rd in China according to Best Chinese Universities Ranking 2017 and to Shanghai Ranking, have been partners for several years. During the meeting organized at ZJU in December, Presidents of the two institutions discussed the bilateral cooperation projects between ZJU and l’X. The first Memorandum of Understanding and the Exchange Agreement were signed by the partner universities in 2017 on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of ZJU. These agreements allow the mobility of students in the framework of degree or non-degree programs.
A year earlier, in 2016, l’X, ENSTA Paristech, Telecom Paristech and ZJU signed a double degree agreement in the framework of a specialized Master’s in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which is part of the Polytechnic Institute of ZJU. The Polytechnic Institute of ZJU collaborates with other international partners of l’X and has international degree programs with Columbia University, member of the Alliance program, and Eindhoven University of Technology, member of the Eurotech Alliance.
Moreover, in April 2018, ZJU and l’X signed a new cooperation agreement in the framework of the Master’s program on renewable energy (STEEM). This agreement aims at implementing a joint degree program and double degree program.
Two weeks after this visit at ZJU, President of ZJU Wu Zhaohui in turn visited École Polytechnique, accompanied by a delegation of professors. He was welcomed by President of École Polytechnique Eric Labaye, Director General François Bouchet and Provost Frank Pacard. This visit aimed at exploring options of collaboration in the field of Research: several meetings and lab visits were organized at the Center for Applied Mathematics (CPAM), the Laurent Schwartz Mathematics Center (CMLS), the Laboratory of Physics of Interfaces and Thin Films (LPICM), the Center for Theoretical Physics (CPHT) and the Drahi – X Novation Center. Research collaborations, strongly encouraged by the Executives of both institutions, could strengthen the existing partnership built on academic exchanges.
