Useful Fictions, a project from the Chair "Arts & Sciences"
The Useful Fictions project held a week-long multidisciplinary and international symposium on the campus of École Polytechnique.
The Chair "Arts & Sciences" is the result of an unprecedented partnership created in 2017, between a science school, École Polytechnique, an art school, École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs-PSL, and a foundation, the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation. This chair is a research-creation, teaching and mediation program between artists, scientists, designers, researchers and students, which promotes interdisciplinary encounters and experiments with new research practices in order to foster the link between civil society and the academic world.
After two years of collaboration on their project “Useful Fictions”, the University of California, Davis, USA, and École Polytechnique held a week-long multidisciplinary symposium. From September 9 to September 13, 2019, five working groups, five guest speaking engagements in conjunction with guest lectures and group discussions took place on the campus of l’X.
