Visit of Naokazu Yokoya, President of NAIST, at l’X
A delegation from the Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), led by its President Naokazu Yokoya, was at l’X on March 13th, 2018. This visit was part of the 8th symposium organized by the Laboratory of Physics of Interfaces and Thin Films (LPICM) and NAIST.
In 2016, École Polytechnique and NAIST signed a partnership agreement to create an International Collaborative Laboratory (ICL). This was the outcome of 8 years of strong cooperation between the two universities. On March 12th, 2018, l’X hosted the 8th symposium between the LPICM and NAIST.
On March 13th, Jacques Biot, President of École Polytechnique, met with his counterpart from NAIST, Naokazu Yokoya. They discussed the current internationalization process of both universities which includes the creation of new programs fully taught in English which aim at overcoming the language barrier. Since 2016, École Polytechnique has launched 8 industry-oriented Graduate Degree programs covering different fields of study: Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Ecotechnologies… Meanwhile, NAIST will open in April 2018 a new Graduate School of Science and Technology which will include 7 programs fully taught in English.
President Biot and President Yokoya agreed that this internationalization process could be a way to expand the cooperation between the two universities to others fields, both in research and education.
