Ten of the Next40 2023 start-ups created by École Polytechnique’s alumni
The start-ups included in the 2023 Next40 /FrenchTech 120 lists were unveiled on February 19th. Ten of tte 40 Next 40 start-ups were created or co-founded by École polytechnique alumni. One out of five French unicorns - start-ups valued at more than $1 billion - also originated from the X entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem.

Manas Upadhyay receives an award from the French Society for Metallurgy and Materials
Manas Upadhyay, an Assistant Professor at the Ecole Polytechnique, is awarded the Jean & André Rist Medal 2022 for his work on understanding the microstructure of materials. His research at the Solid Mechanics Laboratory is currently directed towards making metal additive manufacturing more sustainable.

The third edition of the scientific lectures series brought together Kostas (Konstantinos) Danas, research director at CNRS and professor at École Polytechnique, and Pedro Reis, professor at École Polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), on September 22nd, 2022, to discuss the latest studies on magnetorheological elastomers (MREs) conducted at l’X and EPFL, both partner universities in the EuroTech Alliance.

Aleix Güell, researcher at Laboratory of Physics of Interfaces and Thin Films, has been awarded an ERC Proof of Concept grant. It will allow him to explore the commercial potential of an imaging technique that combines scanning probe microscopy and Raman spectroscopy to study materials in liquids, from battery to living cells.
