Thanks to the commitment of its patrons, École Polytechnique hosted an international scientific workshop devoted to complex systems, a major challenge in modern engineering. This event, organised as part of the Complex Systems Architecture Chair (ASC) at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, and made possible thanks to the support of Dassault Systèmes, Dassault Aviation, KNDS France, Naval Group, the French Defence Procurement Agency and the Defence Innovation Agency, brought together world-renowned experts to explore new methods for analysing and certifying these systems.
Every year, the Useful Fictions international summer school, initiated by the Arts & Sciences Chair and now run by the Useful Fictions Lab programme at the SPIRAL interdisciplinary centre, brings together artists, researchers and citizens around a common theme. The fifth edition, devoted to the atmosphere in all its dimensions, concluded on 5 and 6 September with an exhibition of the various projects at the Centre Wallonie–Bruxelles in Paris.

Since 2003, École Polytechnique, faithful to its historic mission of training scientists to address major societal challenges, has brought together nearly 35 endowed chairs and 37 active partners. From sustainable development to artificial intelligence, these chairs combine research, training and openness, illustrating the school's academic excellence and concrete impact on society.
Start-ups created by École Polytechnique's alumni or supported by X-UP, École Polytechnique's incubator, still account for a quarter of the list of 40 French Next40 start-ups, which has been thoroughly revised in 2025.
Of the eight start-ups incubated at École Polytechnique and present at VivaTech 2025, five have been selected for the Tech for Change 2025 program, which recognizes start-ups helping to address major contemporary environmental and societal challenges. Six École Polytechnique-incubated start-ups feature in VivaTech's Top 100 most promising start-ups in Europe.
Eight start-ups supported by X-Up, École Polytechnique incubator, are present at the VivaTech 2025 Show, alongside 16 other from from the incubators of other Engineering Schools of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, of which École Polytechnique is a founding member.
École Polytechnique hosted the 8th edition of Paris-Saclay Spring 2025, the annual entrepreneurship and research event on the Plateau de Saclay, one of the world's leading innovation and entrepreneurship hubs. Eight start-ups supported by X-UP, the École polytechnique's incubator, or stemming from its research ecosystem, are among the 50 young companies selected as the most promising on the Plateau de Saclay. One of them, Plasana Médical, is the winner of the Spring 50 competition.
Created in January 2025 by Thales, world leader in high-power lasers, GenF aims to develop and industrialize a process for creating a new, safe, abundant, inexpensive and non-polluting form of energy using the inertial confinement nuclear fusion process. The inauguration of its premises in Le Barp, south of Bordeaux, was attended by representatives of the various stakeholders involved.
Quantum computing start-up Alice & Bob, co-founded and headed by Théau Peronnin (X2012), is investing $50 million (€40 million) to build a new quantum laboratory near Paris. The site will house Europe's largest and most advanced development facility for quantum processing units, according to the company.
