The Presidential Summit of the international alliance U7+, in which École Polytechnique is a founding member, took place at Bocconi University in Italy from April 11 to 12, 2024. Laura Chaubard, Director General and Acting President of École Polytechnique, attended the conference, which brought together the presidents and executives of over 80 universities worldwide to focus on this year’s theme "Inclusive Education for Inclusive Societies". The summit concluded with a formal statement on Global Access to Higher Education, also calling on the G7 to collaborate in four key areas.
After winning the French selection, a team from École Polytechnique engineering students came second in the final of the 16th International Physicists Tournament organized from April 2 to 6 by the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Zürich (ETH) in Switzerland.
École Polytechnique is continuing to adapt its historic curriculum, the ingénieur polytechnicien program, to contemporary societal and sovereignty issues. A new course entitled “Global Equilibria, Sovereignty and Defense Issues” for 1st year students began on April 18, 2024.
Ten young researchers, most of them from École Polytechnique’s laboratories, presented their thesis topics at this event organized at École polytechnique by the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, of which École polytechnique is a founding member. Marie Sigallon and Elie Kadoche have been selected to represent IP Paris at the national semi-final to be held in April 2024.
A team from the Optics and Biosciences Laboratory (LOB*) has obtained proof-of-principle for the classification of kidney stones using multi-photon microscopy combined with polarimetry. Co-organized by Juan-Antonio Cordero-Fuertes, associate professor in Computer Science at École Polytechnique, the conference “AIvolution - Transforming the European Union´s Economy and Society” brought together academics from several European universities, members of the European Parliament, and experts from the private sector on November 16, 2023.
A delegation of researchers and students from École Polytechnique and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, of which l’X is a founding member, has taken part in the 28th Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP28). The Conference took place from November 30 to December 12 in Dubai.
École Polytechnique has hosted the seminar for the first French Tech 2030 class. It gathered the program's institutional partners and the 125 winning start-ups, of which 16 from Ecole Polytechnique’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. At the same time, a ranking by the the French newspaper Le Figaro confirmed Ecole Polytechnique’s strong entrepreneurial dynamism.
For the first time, the three Bachelor's classes welcomed to Ecole Polytechnique at the start of the 2023-2024 academic year all benefited from training in the challenges of ecological transition. The BX26 class attended a "sustainability day" while 2nd and 3rd year students (BX25-24) uderwent a two-day seminar. As part of its Climate Plan, Ecole Polytechnique is committed to providing sustainability training for all students in its various programs.
Under the supervision of two professors from École Polytechnique and Télécom Paris, Jesus Cumana-Morales, a PhD student from the Czech Technical University, elaborated a scientific project, which has been accepted for publication at the IEEE International MeditCom 2023 Conference. The project had been initiated as part of École Polytechnique's course "Wireless Networks: from Cellular to Connected Objects", which has been made available to students from the five EuroTeQ Engineering University partner institutions in the shared course catalog of the European university EuroTeQ including École Polytechnique.
The third edition of the U7+ Student Forum addressed the theme “Peace and Security – What commitments can students make to support universities as engines of innovation in peace and security?“ Hosted by École Polytechnique, the forum took place in a virtual format from June 16 to July 7, 2023, and brought together students and faculty experts from the U7+ Alliance of World Universities across the globe.

École Polytechnique’s presidency of the alliance spurs a unanimous commitment to accelerate sustainable development. EuroTech Universities Alliance president since June 2022, Éric Labaye, the Chairman and President of École Polytechnique and of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, welcomed the presidents of the EuroTech partner institutions at École Polytechnique for their annual meeting on June 7th, 2023.
