Portraits of Female Entrepreneurs: Marie Feroux – Structuring Energy Projects to Better Manage Their Impacts
When Marie Feroux founded Osborne Systems last July, she and her partners developed a platform that enables manufacturers to design their oil and gas flow measurement systems with greater precision by automating processes that are still largely manual today. Their ambition is to extend these capabilities to new applications, such as monitoring CO₂ emissions. This ambitious project reflects the spirit of this dynamic entrepreneur, who has been receiving support from École Polytechnique’s X-UP incubator since last October.

First observation of unusual DNA structures in archaea
A team from the Optics and Biosciences Laboratory (LOB*) has identified structures called G-quadruplexes in the genome of archaea, single-celled organisms. This discovery opens up new perspectives on the study of the role of these structures and the evolution of life.

Collaboration investigates collective effects of electrons
Internationally renowned physicist Eberhard Gross has joined Lucia Reining's team at the Irradiated Solids Laboratory (LSI*) as Gaspard Monge Visiting Professor. Together, they are working on theoretical methods for efficiently calculating the quantum properties of materials. Supported by the Fondation de l’École polytechnique as part as the “Servir la science” fundraising campaign, the Gaspard Monge Visiting Professor Program enables the institution to host leading international researchers and foster high-level research collaboration with École Polytechnique’s researchers and laboratories.

First Involvement of Cycle Ingénieur Polytechnicien students in the UK’s “Model NATO”
Against a backdrop of rising geopolitical tensions, six second-year Cycle Ingénieur Polytechnicien students participated in the British Model NATO, held on February 25 at the British Foreign Office. This first French participation in the British Model NATO took place as part of the Model NATO course offered by the English section of the School’s Department of Languages and Cultures.

Encouraging gender equality and diversity in engineering schools through internships
From 23 to 27 February, École Polytechnique organised its first internship for girls enrolled in preparatory classes for science-focused higher education institutions (CPGE), which took place on the school's campus. This initiative, which is without precedent, aims to promote greater gender diversity in engineering schools and, more broadly, in scientific careers. Other courses were also held last month in the CPGE classes of the Clermont-Ferrand academy to further enhance diversity in these fields of excellence.

Merit-based Scholarships: Cooperation agreement with the Singaporean government
École Polytechnique and the Public Service Commission of the Republic of Singapore have signed a cooperation agreement that provides for merit-based scholarships to support outstanding students. This new agreement further strengthens the ties between École Polytechnique and Singapore and builds on existing collaborations between École Polytechnique and prestigious partners such as the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

Radiant: the rise of a green technology start-up supported by École Polytechnique
Radiant is a rapidly growing green tech start-up that specialises in producing carbon-free heat for industrial use. It won first prize in the European Stage Two competition, representing École Polytechnique, and successfully raised funds at the end of last year. Meet its two founders: Thomas Delhon, an aerospace engineer, and Alexandre Meurisse, a former PhD student at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) laboratories. They received support from École Polytechnique's X-UP incubator, which provided a springboard for their success.
