École Polytechnique has appointed a prime contractor to renovate its central building. The project, which represents an investment of 130 million euros and covers 24,000 square meters of premises, will provide X with an innovative heart of campus, open to its environment and meeting the highest environmental standards to support its development.

The Presidential Summit of the international alliance U7+, in which École Polytechnique is a founding member, took place at Bocconi University in Italy from April 11 to 12, 2024. Laura Chaubard, Director General and Acting President of École Polytechnique, attended the conference, which brought together the presidents and executives of over 80 universities worldwide to focus on this year’s theme "Inclusive Education for Inclusive Societies". The summit concluded with a formal statement on Global Access to Higher Education, also calling on the G7 to collaborate in four key areas.
Every year, the European Research Council supports ground-breaking research and scientific excellence. In 2024, Charles Baroud, from École Polytechnique’s Hydrodynamics Laboratory (LadHyX), Olivier Gossner, from the Centre for Research in Economics and Statistics (CREST) and Joris van der Hoeven from École Polytechnique’s Computer Laboratory each receive an ERC fellowship in the Advanced Grants category.

The second CLIFIRIUM conference (Climate finance, risk and uncertainty modelling) was held from 09 to 11 October 2023 at the Banque de France and the French Banking Federation. Designed specifically for non-French-speaking students as an integral part of their first year in the Ingénieur Polytechnicien program, the preparatory training combines French culture and language classes, scientific courses, sports, and cultural activities. This preparatory program has been developed to help non-French-speaking students become familiar with the academic and social campus environment at École Polytechnique. It takes place while the French and French-speaking international students of the class complete their human and military training. In April 2024, all students of class X2023 will get together for the first academic period of the Ingénieur Polytechnicien program and pursue their engineering studies together.
The "Data Science and Industrial Processes" Chair, in partnership with UM6P, co-directed at École Polytechnique by Eric Moulines and supported by the OCP Group, helped organize the "Winter School - Generative AI" conference held from February 26 to March 1, 2024 in Morocco.
Ten young researchers, most of them from École Polytechnique’s laboratories, presented their thesis topics at this event organized at École polytechnique by the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, of which École polytechnique is a founding member. Marie Sigallon and Elie Kadoche have been selected to represent IP Paris at the national semi-final to be held in April 2024.
The French Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, announced at École polytechnique the creation as early as summer 2024 of a new Ministerial Agency for Artificial Intelligence in Defense (MAAID). The agency's research center will be located on Ecole Polytechnique’s campus. The minister also reiterated the importance of the military status of École Polytechnique’s cadets, and underlined the importance of the resources allocated to École polytechnique by the Ministry of the Armed Forces.
