Entrepreneurship at École Polytechnique: a range of initiatives to nurture the stars of tomorrow
With more than 230 start-ups supported over the past ten years, École Polytechnique and its incubator, X-UP, are contributing to the growth of European entrepreneurship. Interdisciplinary research centres, support services, the X-FAB prototyping facility and the presence of entrepreneurs in the business incubator make the École Polytechnique’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation a unique environment that fosters creativity. Project leaders – whether they are students or researchers from École Polytechnique, other institutions within the Institut polytechnique de Paris, or from further afield – will find this the ideal place to bring their ideas to life.

When light stiffens cells
Some fluorescent molecules used to produce microscopic images of biological processes cause the cells into which they are introduced to stiffen. This phenomenon has just been demonstrated and quantified by a collaboration involving the Hydrodynamics Laboratory (LadHyX*). He is featured on the cover of the journal Cell Reports Physical Science.

The second quantum revolution in Ecole Polytechnique's laboratories
The year 2025 has been proclaimed International Year of Quantum Science and Technology by the United Nations. In the 20th century, quantum mechanics radically changed the way we think about the physical world. Today, quantum physics is in the midst of a renaissance that is opening up new and unexpected applications. Laurent Sanchez-Palencia, Director of Research at the Center for Theoretical Physics (CPHT*) and Deputy Director of the Quantum-Saclay center, gives us an overview of this “second quantum revolution”.
