Antoine Guibal, professor at l’X, on American writers of the ‘lost generation’
In the latest episode of the podcast of the Alliance program, of which École Polytechnique is a member, Antoine Guibal speaks about American expatriate writers who settled in Paris at the beginning of the 20th century. Antoine Guibal chairs the Department of Languages and Cultures at the École Polytechnique and spent a semester as a Visiting professor at Columbia University at the beginning of this academic year.

Evolution: new mechanisms reveal the proximity between eukaryotes and archaea
A study by a team from the Structural Biology of the Cell Laboratory (BIOC*), with the participation of the Molecular Chemistry Laboratory (LCM*), published in Nature communications, reveals the mechanisms that initiate translation of the genetic code into proteins in an archaea. This result supports the hypothesis that eukaryotes emerged from the archaeal domain during evolution.

The CTA observatory: the future of gamma-ray astronomy
Currently under construction at two sites in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, the Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatory (CTA) will be the world's largest array of telescopes capable of detecting high-energy gamma rays. The Laboratoire Leprince-Ringuet (LLR*) is heavily involved in this project.

Exploring high-energy astrophysics at Columbia and École Polytechnique
Alliance Visiting professor at École Polytechnique, Reshmi Mukherjee, research professor at Barnard College of Columbia University, has developed her joint research with Deirdre Horan, researcher at the Leprince-Ringuet laboratory for particle physics and astrophysics (LLR), focusing on blazars. Moreover, her visit and exchanges with the LLR research team has further strengthened the ties between the astrophysics research groups at l’X and Columbia.

École Polytechnique honors its first woman valedictorian
An avenue on École Polytechnique’s campus is now dedicated to Anne Duthilleul-Chopinet, the first female valedictorian to enter École Polytechnique, when the cycle ingénieur polytechnicien entrance examination was opened to women. The inauguration of this avenue, in her presence, was an opportunity to recall the contribution of women to major scientific advances and École polytechnique’s commitment to their promotion.

École Polytechnique Executive Education will train MEDEF business leaders in Artificial Intelligence (AI), as well as organizing “learning expeditions” on the theme of quantum and cybersecurity. This mission was entrusted to X-EXED following a collaboration agreement between the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, of which École Polytechnique is a founding member, and the Mouvement des Entreprises de France (MEDEF), the main French business organisation.

A student from l’X among the finalists for the McCall MacBain scholarship
Ines El-Bouzaidi Tiali (X22), a student at École Polytechnique, is one of the finalists for the McCall MacBain scholarship from McGill University, an important partner institution of École Polytechnique in Canada. The only student from a French higher education institution among the finalists, Ines El-Bouzaidi Tiali will participate in the final round of interviews by the jury, which will take place from 22 to 25 March at McGill University in Montreal.
